Privacy Policy

Last updated April 5, 2026

This policy explains what data Strict Mode collects, how it is used, and your choices. The short version: we collect almost nothing.

Data we do not collect

Strict Mode does not collect personal information, usage analytics, telemetry, or behavioral data. There are no user accounts. The application does not phone home. We do not track how you use the software, what projects you work on, or how often you open it.

Data stored locally

Strict Mode stores the following data on your local machine. None of this data leaves your device unless you explicitly configure an external service.

  • Session history and project configuration stored via localStorage and the local file system.
  • API keys for third-party AI services, encrypted via Electron safeStorage (your operating system's keychain or credential manager).
  • Terminal session history within the application, stored in memory during your session.
  • UI preferences such as appearance settings and panel layout state.

Third-party AI providers

When you use Strict Mode to interact with AI models, your prompts and project context are sent directly from your machine to the AI provider you configured (Anthropic). Strict Mode acts as a client. We do not proxy, intercept, log, or retain any of this data on our infrastructure.

Your use of third-party AI services is governed by those providers' respective privacy policies. We recommend reviewing them before providing sensitive project data.

Marketing website

The Strict Mode marketing website does not use analytics, tracking pixels, advertising cookies, or any form of behavioral tracking. We do not collect visitor data. The site loads one external resource (Adobe Fonts) for typography, which is subject to Adobe's privacy policy.

Waitlist

If you join the waitlist, we store your email address in a secure database to notify you when early access opens. We do not share your email with third parties. You can request removal at any time by emailing us.

Children's privacy

Strict Mode is a professional software development tool. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

Data security

API keys are stored using your operating system's secure credential storage. All other local data inherits the security of your file system and user permissions. Because Strict Mode does not transmit data to our servers, the security of your data depends on the security of your local machine and any third-party services you choose to connect.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. We will not reduce your privacy protections without clear notice.
